Injury News – 8/9/10

I had to get an 8/9/10 post in!! Great date format and one I feel is better than last year’s 7/8/09.

Anyhoo… On to more serious matters and it looks like the International break has left a few players nursing injuries.

Arsenal’s Robin van Persie is out until mid October and also Theo Walcott looks to be out for a couple of weeks after hurting his ankle in England’s win over Switzerland last night.

Spurs defender Michael Dawson is out for up to 6 weeks and Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt out for 4 weeks, both injured playing for their countries.

On a more positive note, Chelsea’s John Terry and Frank Lampard could be back in time for this weekend’s matches.

Premier League Squads Announced

This season all EPL clubs have to submit a squad of 25 players plus their registered Under 21 players who are eligible to play.

For a full explanation of the rules and a list of the squads (announced today and in force until January) go to the Premier League Site.

Players who are excluded and ineligble to play in the EPL until at least January are:

As expected, more late and breaking news!!!

Spurs completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Rafael van der Vaart from Real Madrid and he is available for picking should you feel the need.

Other late news, West Ham signed Blackburn defender Lars Jacobsen and Blackpool have signed Aussie midfielder David Carney and free agent keeper Richard Kingson.

Finally, Bolton have cancelled the contract of Danny Shittu so if he’s in your team, get him replaced ASAP.

There are no Prem matches this weekend due to International matches but I’m off to watch my beloved Posh play at Tranmere!! Have a great weekend and enjoy the break, let’s hope none of your players return from international duty crocked.

Transfer Deadline Day News 31/8/10

Well it has been a SUPER busy transfer deadline day so without further ado, these are the ins and outs of the Prem league that matter.

Newcastle have signed midfielders Cheik Tiote and Hatem Ben Arfa.

Fulham sign defender Carlos Salcido from PSV.

West Ham have got striker Victor Obinna on a season long loan from Inter Milan. Fabio Daprela has moved from West Ham to Italian side Brescia.

West Brom sign Marc-Antoine Fortune from Celtic, the second time the striker has been at the Hawthornes. They also signed defender Paul Scharner who was a free agent after leaving Wigan earlier this season.

Liverpool have signed midfielder Raul Meireles form Porto and defender Paul Konchesky from Fulham.

Several Liverpool players have been sold or loaned out:

Emiliano Insua has moved to Galatasaray on loan, Nabil El Zhar has also gone out on loan to PAOK and Javier Mascherano has finally completed his move to Barcalona.

Everton’s Joseph Yobo has moved on a season long loan to Fenerbahce.

Stoke have been really busy. They signed midfileders Marc Wilson from Portsmouth and Jermaine Pennant from Real Zaragoza plus old EPL favourite striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Sunderland have sold Martyn Waghorn to Leicester but signed Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan from Rennes in what looks to be the TDD recored fee.

Arsenal have loaned out Armand Traore to Juventus.

Bolton sign Benfica forward Rodrigo Moreno on a season long loan.

Robinho has moved on a permanent deal form Man City to AC Milan. City have also loaned out Felipe Caicedo to Levante.

Spurs have signed keeper Stipe Pletikosa on a season long loan from Spartak Moscow.

Blackpool have signed striker DJ Campbell from Leicester and winger Matt Phillips from Wycombe.

Birmingham have signed defender Martin Jiranek from Spartak Moscow, former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb on a season-long loan from Barcelona and Chile winger Jean Beausejour from Mexican side Club America.

Franco Di Santo has moved from Chelsea to Wigan. Wigan also signed Man Utd midfielder Tom Cleverley on loan.

Finally (for now!), Wolves have taken Birmingham striker Marcus Bent on loan.

Phew! We are still waiting on news that Spurs may have signed Rafael Van der Vaart from Real Madrid. Get checking your teams and make sure that none of your players have moved out of the EPL!!!

Carling Cup games kicked in for EPL sides this week so start checking and planning for the bonus Cup League.

There are a few tranfers to notify you of and expect a few more before Tuesday’s deadline.

Jason Scotland has left Wigan and joined Ipswich so is now out of the EPL – get rid if you have him.

Fulham have signed Algerian World Cup defender Rafik Halliche from Benfica.

Alessandro Diamanti has also moved out of the EPL from West Ham to Brescia.

Wolves striker Andy Keogh has switched to Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal and is also now out of the EPL. Chelsea’ s Michael Mancienne has rejoined Wolves though on a season-long loan.

Aresenal have finally signed French defender Sebastien Squillaci from Sevilla.

Well, another high scoring weekend in the EPL with no less than 3 6-0 wins, most noticeably Newcastle’s demolition of Villa.

Plenty of scores to be had and plenty of points to be lost if you have the wrong keeper/defenders!

Cup scores start this week with the first batch of teams involved in the Carling Cup. Remember, all European games start scoring from the first round proper, no points are gained from qualifying matches.

Approaching the end of week one and some more transfer news for you.

Vladimir Weiss has moved from Manchester City to Rangers on a season long loan.

There are rumours that William Gallas will be taking a pay cut to sign for Spurs but nothing confirmed yet.

Finally, those with Joe Cole in their teams must be thinking about changing him. In his first two games he has been sent off and missed a penalty! Good job the European games don’t start scoring until the First Round proper!

Craig Bellamy is now out of the Premiership after joining Cardiff on a season long loan.

Fulham have signed striker Moussa Dembele from AZ Alkmaar.

Blackpool have signed defender Dekel Keinan from Maccabi Haifa.

Liverpool have signed goalkeeper Brad Jones from Middlesboro as cover for Pepe Reina.

Stoke have signed forward Jon Walters from Ipswich.
